Register Now for "Economic Development: What's Health Got to Do With It?" The Sequel

“Economic Development: What’s Health Got to Do with it?”The Sequel, will be held on June 20, 2013 at the InterContinental Hotel Cleveland.  It will bring together Greater Cleveland-area business leaders, policy makers and human resource professionals to discuss workplace health trends, private employer and public-sector driven wellness plans and the impact employee health has on local business and our economy. This year’s event will provide a deeper dive into the approaches that are showing promising results. The half-day forum will include a prominent keynote address, and will feature panels showcasing public and private sector examples of promising practices.  A highlight of this year’s event will be a debate designed to bring into sharp relief those strategies that are more hype than help.  The InterContinental’s state-of-the-art facilities will also allow for creative opportunities for audience engagement.  A committee comprised of representatives from business, policy and research institutions has been formed and is helping to plan the event.

The Free Clinic Honors Volunteers During National Volunteer Week

April 21 through 27 marks National Volunteer Appreciation Week, and The Free Clinic would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to the 600 volunteers annually who donate their time, talent and expertise to The Free Clinic.  Founded by a group of volunteers over 40 years ago, The Free Clinic continues to rely heavily on volunteers to increase its capacity to serve the medically underserved year after year.  Varying from licensed professionals, including doctors, dentists, dental hygienists, pharmacists, and therapists, to lay level volunteers, The Free Clinic's volunteer corps contributes in direct patient care as well as in administrative roles.

In the words of a patient, "Because of you, I now have hope.  Because of you, I am getting better.  Because of you, I can give thanks."  Volunteers help keep the "FREE" in The Free Clinic, and last year, they contributed over 36,000 hours of service, which is valued at over $1,250,000.
