Comprehensive Intake and Assessment

All participants begin with a thorough intake process that allows our clinicians to fully understand your needs, history, and goals. This assessment typically takes several hours and is a critical first step in developing a personalized treatment plan.

Completion of the intake is required prior to admission into any of our programs. Our licensed clinicians are available to answer questions and guide you through this process.

Eligibility and Access

At The Free Clinic, we are committed to providing support and treatment to anyone ready to take the first step toward recovery. Our services are designed to be accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the unique needs of each individual.

  • Our services are available to adults seeking treatment for substance use disorders.
  • All services are accessed by appointment, ensuring each participant receives individualized attention.
  • The program is designed for both men and women, accommodating a wide range of needs and circumstances.

We welcome all adults who are seeking help and are ready to engage in a structured, supportive program tailored to their recovery journey.

Outpatient Treatment Options

We offer both intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) and non-intensive outpatient treatment to provide flexibility and a level of support that matches your needs:

  • Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP): Provides structured, in-depth therapy including individual counseling, group therapy, relapse prevention education, coping strategies, and life skills development. This is ideal for individuals who require a higher level of support while still living at home.
  • Non-Intensive Outpatient Treatment: Offers structured group and individual sessions for those in earlier stages of recovery or who need less intensive support.

The length of participation is tailored to each individual based on your intake assessment and ongoing progress in treatment.

Nighttime and Daytime Sessions

Programs are offered at convenient times to fit various schedules:

  • Nighttime Sessions: Intensive and non-intensive outpatient options for those who need evening treatment due to work, school, or family responsibilities.
  • Daytime Sessions: Intensive and non-intensive outpatient programs for those who prefer or require treatment during daytime hours.

Sessions include therapy, educational workshops, skill-building exercises, and relapse prevention planning.

Holistic and Supportive Care

Our SAT program is designed to address not just substance use, but the whole person. Participants may receive guidance on:

  • Mental health support, including stress, anxiety, and depression management
  • Healthy lifestyle practices, such as nutrition and exercise
  • Goal setting, employment, and educational planning
  • Life skills and coping strategies to prevent relapse

Family and Community Support

We recognize that recovery is often supported by family and community. Our program encourages family education and involvement, helping loved ones understand substance use disorders and ways to support recovery while maintaining healthy boundaries.

Relapse Prevention and Ongoing Recovery

Recovery is a lifelong process. Our clinicians work with participants to develop personalized relapse prevention plans that include strategies for coping with triggers, cravings, and high-risk situations. Participants are encouraged to continue engagement with supportive groups and resources even after completing the program.

Project DAWN: Overdose Prevention

In addition to treatment, The Free Clinic participates in Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided with Naloxone), a community-based overdose prevention and education initiative. This program provides individuals at risk of opioid overdose—and their loved ones—with naloxone kits and training on how to recognize and respond to an overdose. Participants learn how to safely administer intranasal naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses, including for heroin, prescription pain medications, and other opioids.

Confidentiality and Safety

All services at The Free Clinic are provided with strict confidentiality, ensuring your privacy and safety. Our team is trained to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where participants can focus on recovery without fear of stigma or exposure.
